NFL Pool Section | NCAA Pool Section
Welcome to the Football section! This one should be a little larger this season. I have had quite a few people ask me over the last few seasons why I do not branch out and do a college football version of our longstanding NFL pool. Truthfully, it is a fair amount of extra work on my end and it means relying on people (who are intermittently reliable) twice as often. All that being said, I am willing to give it a shot this year.
So what changes doing two pools instead of just one? First off, the college one will be due on Fridays and it would make my universe SO much better if you could get all the NFL ones to me on the same day. I know a lot of you have no idea (or just don’t care) but if everyone waits until Saturday night to turn in the NFL sheets, on a weekend with a large pool I could be going until 7:00am or later and (much like all of you) I want to be awake to see the games!
The majority of you did much better last year in terms of organization and time management. We had problems with one person and those of you that turn them in with him are doing so at your own risk. If you’re worried about your sheets actually being turned in to me, why not cut out all the middle men and email me? I know who comes through each and every week; we can always work something out to get them to the right place by the right time.
For my collectors working solely via the internet, thank you again for using the spreadsheet; it saves me so much time and effort. For the two that still insist on typing them into an email in lieu of furthering their technological know how, please keep in mind it takes me longer to read and flip back and forth to do them that way than to read them off of the paper. If you still do not want to use the spreadsheet template, I strongly suggest you drop them off to one of our reliable places - Waterway Cafe is at the top of that list.
Are you somewhere no where near here? Gainesville? North Carolina? Iraq? Mars? Don’t worry! You can do a full season in advance and email them weekly (preferably by Thursday night) so you can play from anywhere! Just send me an email and we will set things up before the beginning of the season.
Time to solve some problems well in advance! NOT ALL SHEET WILL BE DUE ON SATURDAYS, SOME WILL BE EARLIER! See, I put that all in Caps so later on when someone whines that they had no idea, I will just send them here. I will have a sub-page from here that lists all of the due dates for the NCAA and NFL pools well in advance. If you’d like a clue for at least four strange weeks: Week one WILL include the Thursday kickoff, so the first NFL pool is due on Wednesday, September 9th. We will be out of the country for NFL week 4 (October 2-4), so both pools will be due on Thursday, October 1st. We are both shooting a wedding on the West Coast the second weekend in November, so Week 10 NFL and NCAA pools with be due on Thursday, November 12th. Staying in November, I have decided to include the Thanksgiving games this year, so there will be a Wednesday (November 25th) due date right before the holiday so we can get in all 16 games. As for the other weeks, I tossed out most Thursday and Friday night games but when there is a Saturday game, they will be due on Friday.
I’ll get more on here later, especially after we finalize how we will set up the collegiate version.
